• Computer memory is any physical device capable of storing information Temporarily amd Permanent.
• Memory is also used by a computer's operating system,hardware and software.

Types of Computer Memory

There are two Types of Computer memory.

1. Primary Memory
2. Secondary Memory

Types of Computer memory

Primary Memory

• Primary Memory also known as Main Storage or Memory.
• It is the area in a computer in which data is stored for "quick access".
• It allows a processor to access running execution applications and services that are temporarily stored in a specific memory location.
• It is short range memory.

For Example

"If we play the music file,the file will run in primary memory".

Types of primary memory

There are two main types of primary memory.

1. RAM
2. ROM

Secondary Memory

• Secondary memory is also known as Secondary Storage.
• Secondary Memory is where programs and data are kept on a Long-Term basis.
• Secondary Memory is computer memory that is non volatile in nature and is not directly accessed by a computer/processor.
• It allows a user to store data that may be instantly and easily retrieved.

For Examples

"Our pictures,important files are store in secondary memory".

Types of Secondary Memory

There are thre main types of secondary memory.

1. Magnetic storage devices______Hard disk drivers.
2. Optical storage devices________CD,DVD and Blue rays discs.
3. Solid state storage devices_____USB memory sticks.
