Explain the Classification of computers wth examples?
Computer
"Computer is an electronic device that accept input, process the data, store the data and produce output".Computers are classified into four based on their size.
- Mini computers
- Micro computers
- Mainframe computer
- Super computer
Mini Computer
- A minicomputer is also called mid-range computer.
- Minicomputers are mainly multi users systems where more than one user can work simultaneously.
- Minicomputers was smaller, less expensive, and less power than mainframe or supercomputers but more expensive and more powerful than personal or microcomputers.
Examples of minicomputer
IBM's AS/400e, Honeywell200, TI-990,etc
Micro Computer

| Microcomputers |
- A microcomputer is a complete computer on a small scale, designed for use by one person at a time.
- Microcomputer is also called Personal computer,or a device based on a single chip microprocessor.
- The microcomputer is small in size.
- The microcomputer is used to design different software and apps.
- This type of computer is low cost,so all the users can easily buy.
Examples of microcomputer
There are many examples of microcomputers.
- Modern desktop computers
- Laptops
- Tablet PCs
- Mobile phones
- Pocket calculators,etc
Mainframe computer
- Mainframe are high performance computers with large amount of memory and processors that process billions of simple calculations and transactions in real time.
- IT support multiprocessing.
- It run so many applications at the same time.
Examples of mainframe computer
There are many examples of mainframe computer.
- IBM zSerirs
- System z9
- System z10 servers,etc
Super computers
- A supercomputer is a computer that performs at or near the highest operational rate for computers.
- Traditionally, supercomputers have been used for scientific and engineering applications that must handle massive database,do a great amount of computation or both.
- A supercomputer has a capacity of 200 to 300 gigabyte or more.
Examples of supercomputer
There are many examples of Supercomputers.
